Happy Mother's Day!!!
Today: a tribute to moms, who are THE most important people in the world to: (A) their own children, and (B) family photographers. Dads are great! But let's be honest: who do you think almost always contacts me to book a session, coordinates everyone’s schedules and outfits and snacks, and then gets the whole family out the door in time for the photo session? Moms! They do it all! (And they do all this because they love their families! And they totally get the importance of having beautiful photos of their families! AND because all too often they're the ones always taking the pictures and for once they'd just like to be IN a shot or two. :)) So, a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to all the fabulous moms I have had the pleasure and privilege of photographing -- I simply could not do this without you.
And a very Happy Mother's Day to everyone who is (or has) a mom!

Class of 2016 | Indianapolis Senior Photography
I love photographing seniors, and this one was no exception. He's a big brother, a soccer player, and a really good sport. (Also he's just a little bit handsome.) It was great fun exploring Mass Ave and 100 Acres with him and his delightful family. Enjoy!
Goodbye, Shanghai
Well. It's been two and a half years, and the time has come for our family to say goodbye to Shanghai. I'm all mixed emotions. I love this place, but it also drives me crazy . . . and I'm going to miss it terribly. Among other things, it's a truly amazing place to take pictures. And I've been SO fortunate to get to meet and photograph so many beautiful families in Shanghai, who welcomed me into their homes to meet their newborn babies, and who met me out on the Bund in the early morning light. I just can't thank you enough for giving me that opportunity!
For my last Shanghai post, I wanted to share some favorite shots I've taken of my own family here. Shanghai will always be such a magical place for us: my boy was born here, and the four of us have had the greatest time ever exploring this (enchanting, exasperating, altogether amazing) city together. We're moving on, but we'll definitely be back someday.
And I will continue doing photography in the States, so please watch for updates to this blog and do keep in touch!
Happy Year of the Horse! | Shanghai Family Photography
On November 9, 2013, Chi Fan for Charity hosted its 3rd annual charity fundraiser/party in Shanghai and raised over 400,000 rmb (approximately $66,000 USD) for three local organizations: Heart to Heart Shanghai, the Renewal Center, and Home Sweet Home.
And Michael Crain is the guy who started Chi Fan for Charity in Beijing back in 2009. So when he and his fun-loving family came down to celebrate and enjoy Shanghai’s Chi Fan for Charity event late last year, we did photos! (And as this is one family that likes to plan ahead, we even took a few horse-themed shots for their annual Chinese New Year card :)).

Happy Birthday Ballerina!
After months of planning and anticipation, today was the big day for this lovely little ballerina: her 4th birthday party! And what a party it was: tons of guests, great food, fun party activities . . . and these fabulous huge posters of the birthday girl herself, from a ballet-themed glitter photo session we did way back in November.
